Candace joined the Daisy Hill Vet team in 2019 having completed both her Certificate III in Animal Science as well as her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.
As a university student completing a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at QUT, Candace has discovered her passion for pathology, including managing the in-house laboratory at Daisy Hill Vet. Diagnostic investigation including being able to obtain point-of-care blood test results on site has been of particular interest for Candace and she hopes to expand her knowledge in this field.
Apart from pathology, Candace’s other nursing interests include anaesthetic monitoring and the musculoskeletal system, particularly in helping the more senior patients live more comfortably and learning about management of canine osteoarthritis to enhance a pet’s quality of life.
Coming from a background in arts administration in a graphic design company, Candace has been able to utilise her artistic flare as an assistant groomer alongside Tonia, which is a real highlight in her role, as she loves getting to know her furry customers one-on-one.
Growing up around horses on a property in Gatton, Candace has always been an animal lover and currently owns a geriatric moggy called ‘Faith’ with hyperthyroidism as well as an extremely friendly American Bulldog called ‘Nogueria’. Amazingly, they both get along fine!
Being a true animal welfare advocate, Candace always strives for further knowledge so that she can ensure the best outcome for her patients and loves the challenging nature of her role as a veterinary nurse, as well as the variety of cases she sees.
Most of all, Candace values the many genuine friendships that have developed through being part of this dynamic team.
Candace enjoys a healthy lifestyle and the outdoors, particularly the Daisy Hill conservation park, as well as participating in fun runs, yoga and of course the Million Paws Walk every year.
